It’s that time of year again!

When one’s filmmaker friends scramble over 48 hours to make a film as part of the 48 Hour Film Project.

This year, I know of at least 3 teams that have at least one of my friends on board. As a person who likes films-and friends-I am bursting at the seams with excitement.

I have had the honour of being in a team in the past as a general factotum (snack delivery, hugs, essential services like those) and I know that a lot goes into the making of the films that are shown.

As with last year, I look forward to the work of Barbara Karuana. She made a beautiful film last year and she’s a sister from a certain time in my life. My friend T has her 48HFP screenwriting debut this year and when I interview her about her work, you’ll be the first to know. The writer Alexander Ikawah has participated in the last two; I am curious about what he has in store this year.

This is a great chance to experience local cinema that runs the gamut from the classic student fare to a bunch of amateurs to guys who are super serious about their craft and have been at it for a while. Read more here and look out for a screening near you!
